The honest take
If you've had your SSN exposed, want credit bureau monitoring, or want an insurance backstop if identity theft actually happens, Harbor Breach Monitor is not a substitute for a paid identity protection service. Those services cover real risk that email breach monitoring alone doesn't touch.
What Harbor Breach Monitor covers well is the narrower, more common question: did one of my accounts just show up in a new breach dump. If you're already paying for Harbor Privacy, you get that check for free, with no new account and no extra monthly charge. For a lot of people that's plenty; for people who've already had their identity compromised once, it's worth pairing with a real identity monitoring service too.
